BTI Systems Announces Dr. Robert Keys as Chief Architect Optical

BTI Systems, a global supplier of Intelligent Service Edge solutions for the delivery of high-bandwidth, multi-protocol services, announced that Dr. Robert Keys has been appointed as the company’s Chief Architect Optical. With systems architecture, engineering, and product development experience, Dr. Keys is responsible for defining BTI’s optical technology vision and working with the engineering and sales teams to guide product evolution, ensuring best-in-class optical and network product performance.

An executive with broad experience in product development and strategy, Dr. Keys has a proven track record leading large multi-disciplinary development teams to deliver a range of products and software. Dr. Keys demonstrated leadership capabilities in the development of the strategic technical roadmap and investment requirements as Chief Engineer of optical components manufacturer Bookham Inc., where he also attained senior-level commercial experience through mergers and acquisitions and business development assignments. Prior to Bookham, Dr. Keys developed optical line products in the long-haul and metro product portfolios at Nortel Networks as Director Optical Amplifier Systems Development. With a Ph.D and M.Sc in Electronics and Electrical Engineering from the University of Glasgow, UK, Dr. Keys developed erbium fiber technology for commercial deployment in submarine and terrestrial networks as Senior Research Scientist Optical Fiber Development at Nortel BNR Europe.
